Glass Jar Colorings...and more

Hey Friends! Enjoying the gorgeous spring weather with plenty of sunshine here in Iowa, tomorrow it is supposed to be 91 degrees. The splash pads are finally open in our area so tomorrow we plan to have a family picnic at the park with some splash pad fun. Zane of course is super excited to wear his new Spider-man swim top. Well on to my colorings, I wanted to share with you some glass jars that I experimented with using various Memento inks and Copic markers. The stamp is from the All Wrapped Up (Stampin' Up) set.

The Memento inks used are: Tuxedo Black, London Fog, Pear Tart, Angel Pink, and Rhubarb Stalk.

    1st row: BV's (BV0000, BV000, BV31)
                      B's (B0000, B000, B00)
                      BG's (BG0000, BG000, BG10)
  2nd row:  R's (R0000, R00, R11, R81)
                      RV's (RV000, RV00, RV10)
                      YG's (YG0000, YG00, YG11)
                      T's (T0, T1, T3, palette blended T5).

I really love how the Angel Pink with the RV's and Pear Tart with the YG's came out. The ink just really brings out the vibrant color in the Copic markers. I still want to do a jar using Y's, kind of like a firefly jar, and put some little bug embellishments into it. If have you haven't tried coloring glass, maybe some of my color combos and see what you like. It is pretty easy and it gives the image that extra "IT" factor.

Next I would like to share with you some bears that I made for Father's Day. My step dad is a hunter so I am sure he will appreciate the detail on his bear. I am still working on creating a bow-hunter bear. This was my first attempt at paper piecing using an irregular size. I think next time I make them I would like them a bit smaller to put on a card or something. These bears did not take long at all and were fun to create. They remind me of Larry the Cable Guy with the camo hat and vest, so I hope you all like them.

That is all I have for this week. Also if anyone has any paper piecing tips and tricks to share with me feel free to leave them below or on my facebook page. Thanks for stopping by and as always have a Scraptastic weekend! Hopefully you all can find time to color, stamp, alter projects, or do whatever craft you enjoy! Happy Memorial Day everyone! Please remember the veterans that blessed this country. Stay tuned for my newly organized scrap room pictures featuring two awesome garage sale finds!

Zoo Trip

Hello My Scrappy Friends: I just wanted to share a few pictures with you all today from our trip to the Niabi Zoo yesterday. Zane had a ton of fun. We were disappointed that the Lorakeet nectar feeding station was closed. There were a lot of babies born into the zoo in the last six months (baby porcupine, giraffe, sheep). We were sad to read that the female tiger named Asia had passed away recently so that was closed as well. Zane picked up a sea turtle stuffed animal from the gift shop and has been a happy little clam ever since and will not put that turtle down. Here are just a few pictures.

News in my scrappy world, I just received my first package of Twinkling H2O's from ScrapbookPal. I had recently watched a video on YT by Jeantteinkspots
showing the beautiful technique of this product. I really want to try my hand at it since it seems pretty similar to Copic coloring. I was also able to pick up some watercolor paper pads at Michael's yesterday while I was out and about and they were 40% off. So I am hoping to dabble a little bit into coloring with the Twinkling H2O's in the next coming weeks, so there will be more to come with that. While at Michael's I found a free beginner crochet pattern by Lily and Sugar so I am going to try to learn to crochet that. This company has a pretty awesome website which has all kinds of free patterns at various levels. They have so many beautiful and vibrant colors in their yarn lineup that I can't wait to get started on some of their patterns. I am hoping also to get a few colorings in this week to share with you all. I hope everyone is having a great start to their summer. Feel free to share your scrappy projects/ideas with me on FB: karate37t. Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs,

Haul #1 & Card

I am so excited to share with you all my first order from The Cat's Pajamas. I also was able to pick up the newest release from The Greeting Farm. I was very impressed with the way that The Cat's Pajamas was packaged in this cute little yellow & white striped bag. I have taken a few of the stamps out and tried them out and they are of great quality/stamp very well. My favorite from this haul is Kick Some Grass. This one would be perfect to make a card for one my roller derby friends. I absolutely fell in love with the stamp set called Ewe Complete Me as well. The sentiments are just too cute! Now on to The Greeting Farm I have wanted the Sitting Casual for so long to make some manly cards especially since Father's Day is coming up. My favorite would definitely have to be Cheeky Geeky. It reminds me of the skit from Saturday Night Live with Molly Shannon called Superstar. So might try to come up with a card playing off of that skit.

Lately I have also been working on more distressing techniques and learning to color jars/glass with my Copics.  I attended a class last night for some extra tips and tricks and this is what I came up with.
This image is stamped on Copic Xpress-It paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The background paper was ran through the Cuttlebug with the damask embossing folder and then distressed using Tim Holtz's distress ink Peeled Paint and spray with Perfect Pearls for some shimmer. I also distress inked around my image with Old Paper and Iced Spruce for a greenish blue tint. The image was colored using the following Copic colors:

Vase: BG0000, BG000, BG00, BG10
Tulips: RV21, RV23, RV29 (palette blended)
Tulip stems: YG61, YG63, YG67 (palette blended)
Shadow: W00, W1, Colorless Blender.

I had a great time learning to color glass jars, if you haven't tried it yet it is fun to do with some of the colored Memento inks. My personal favorite is Pear Tart using YG0000, YG00, YG11. So give it a try and let me know what you think. Well I have many errands to run today and hope to grill out this evening so have to get things ready for that. I hope the rest of ya'lls day is Scraptastic!!

Hugs <3
